Marlinbeg is a small town on the Atlantic Coast in south west Donegal. One of those places where you just walk in quiet and take in the glorious scenery of the Atlantic coast and rural farms.
We walked the 16km round trip from Glencolmcille in the spasmodic rain along tracks and through farms. It is one of those walks where your heart beats slower – the outside world stops and you wonder why you would ever want to live in a city ever again.
It will take you past Silver Strand – a picturesque crescent shaped beach bathed in azure blue waters – around a valley with the remnants of an old rusted car (someone took a sharp turn!) – sure footed sheep grazing – islands – streams and a lighthouse.
