You only have to drive a half hour and you are somewhere! I don’t know the name of this little place and I happened to see a small sign from the road and stopped. You never know what you are going to find ‘around the corner’ in Tasmania. And that is the sheer beauty of this amazing state.
Remnants of Tasmania’s early logging industry sit in the forest with nature taking back its space.
Huge Myrtles lay felled. You can see the size of the trees from the first image, as my cap sits at the base. To the left hand side at the top is a chopped slit where the loggers implanted standing boards to hand cut these giants.
The forest floor is dark and damp, the trees fight for sunlight and grow at enormous heights.
