Lake St Claire – Springboard to Cradle Mountain!

P1880980

Lake St Claire is a much visited place for a variety of reasons. One being the starting point for the Overland Track to Cradle Mountain, taking about 5-6 days trekking though the wilderness of Tasmania.

I was not equipped with tent or appropriate clothing for this apparently amazing journey. Gives me another reason to re visit Tasmania!

Instead I took the day walk to Mt Rufus and Shadow Lake. I didn’t see another person until I reached Shadow Lake. How many times can I say that Tasmanian Parks are absolutely glorious and the government has done a brilliant job ensuring the tracks are very well kept!!!

At Shadow Lake, I found a man fishing in his solitude.

I couldn’t help myself with taking so many images of the different barks on tree trunks!

    1. Oh so would I, I watched many from Lake St Claire and Cradle Mountain set off and arrive and loved it. I just didn’t have the equipment or clothing to do it…maybe next time. 😀
