Arthur River on the north west coast of Tasmania was a MUST for me to see and experience. So the detour was quite short compared to other parts of Australia.
When I arrived, the remnants of the bush fires were still visible, with new shoots of bright green grass already growing through the ash.
The fire fighters were their usual brilliant selves, back burning around the town to save the pristine rainforest and town. Camping near the Nat Park Office you could hear and see the helicopters flying in and out of Arthur River around the clock to monitor the fires directions.
