After Tasmania, I was on a time schedule to get back to Corryong in time for ‘The Man from Snowy River Festival’.
The festival and events is centred around Banjo ‘ poem ‘The Man from Snowy River’ supposedly about Jack Riley’s ride who was a local to Corryong. This is our roots, pure Australian!
The festival starts with a re-enactment and narration of the poem at Towong. This is a MUST to see!!! Set in gorgeous scenic mountains and hills then a group of ‘Riley’s Riders’ arrive. They have traced Jack Riley’s ride for 3 days.
The mob of horses and ‘Jack’ bringing back the colt.
Riley’s Riders arriving…
There is more to the ‘show’ with a cattle drive and a bullock team….
Horsemanship skills, a visitor with his dog and much more.
Do pencil this event in for next year – begins around the end of March to April each year.
